We saw an opportunity to use these new techniques to help advertisers unleash their creativity.
TAU Marketing Solutions is the “geek squad” of the new agency world, on a mission to make AI accessible to marketers at a time when many feel their jobs are under threat.
Set up by agency stalwarts Robert Webster, Dave Wiltshire and Andy Stevens, TAU’s focus on democratising AI has seen it sprint off the starting block. 15 months later, there are 20 AI and marketing engineers helping marketers to leverage AI for creativity and efficiency, working with big brands from supermarkets, through to online travel agents and betting businesses.
The agency has experienced rapid growth in the UK in particular, but it is increasingly finding its feet in the US and looking to build a team there.
Building agility into the heart of the business has been key, which has meant fostering a culture of speed to learning what comes next. While many agencies play their cards to their chest, TAU is happy to give information away freely to clients.
This is the “fun piece,” after all: to show clients what is possible and what it all means – for planning, measurement, transparency and effectiveness.
“Crucially, it’s about how we take CMOs on that journey,” says Rob, who also wants to use this opportunity to help brands and publishers push back against the tech giants. TAU has just finished developing the latest version of its own tech platform, which it debuted at Cannes last year. The newest iteration promises to offer clients a more unified approach to planning, activation, reporting and data.
Some strong senior hires have bolstered the team so far, but Rob and co believe it is important to push young talent forwards too. They will be teeing up the school leavers they have hired with the tools and technology they need to stay ahead.
It is this investment in talent and technology that has the potential to transform and safeguard the future of this industry. We look forward to seeing TAU’s growing geek squad continue to fight the good fight.
