Social Shepherd has come a long way since husband and wife, Jack and Zoe Shepherd, set up shop in Bath eight years ago. They met at university, where Jack had founded a nightlife events and ecommerce business back in 2014 and where Zoe later joined as events and marketing manager.
A few years later, they hedged their bets and went into business together. They have built Social Shepherd from the ground up since, starting with small retainers and small businesses in their tiny three-person office in the South West.
Having "chipped away” for the past eight years, Social Shepherd is now an award-winning agency with 70 people working across offices in London, New York and Miami. It works with around 50 brands including Arla, Asics and Uniqlo, for which it collectively drove over £100m in revenue last year.
It was Uniqlo that gave Social Shepherd its big break in 2023, propelling the agency into the US and seeing it go from challenger agency to serious player. That same year they opened up a new workspace in Bath to accommodate their expanding team and in-house production capabilities, which spans a range of creative services for organic and paid social.
Momentum has been building ever since; the doors to their London office opened in 2024 and they have been named ‘Best Large Social Media Agency in the UK’ for three years running.
The agency is, however, “still very much in growth mode.” This year, it will look to scale further and build its social commerce offering, including the soup du jour TikTok Shop. Alongside growing organically across its four main hubs in the UK and US, the agency will also look to build more flocks internationally.
At a time when being ‘social-first’ is becoming the norm and agencies up the ante with TikTok Shop, Social Shepherd’s strong international portfolio and sharp focus offering brands fully integrated social retainers will no doubt help it stand out in a pitch.
